General Service Miniature Medal DhofarThe General Service Medal with Dhofar Clasp The General Service Medal 1962 2007 is commonly known as the Campaign Service Medal 1962 as was awarded with a minimum of one campaign clasp (in the instance 'Dhofar') and it is believed that a maximum of six clasp have been awarded on one medal. Instituted in 1962 to replace the separate Naval GSM & RAF ARMY GSM, the General Service Medal 1962 2007 was awarded to recognise service in minor campaigns that

It was later made available to equivalent ranks in the RN and Army for acts of valour in the air

The first awards of this MM were made during the Korean War although often awards announced in the name of The Queen resulted in a recipient recieving the medal with the head of King George VI
