Due to their thick trunks

They definitely prefer a trellis or some support to produce that nice thick heart shaped foliage

We do not recommend these if your space is a little darker

or moss pole to get large mature leaves with even more fenestration as they would in the wild growing up the sides of trees

which is always rewarding

This species is native to parts of Costa Rica thus wild variances in the species itself are discovered

If ever repotted

We use a 3:1 ratio of soil to amendments

These will do best in a very bright light if not partial direct sun

Their fuzzy petioles are our favorite part

It can be a bit slower growing than carnosa

Water when the top 2"-3" of soil drys out
